MY GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR

Happy new year lovelies! It's officially a new year! I am always excited for new year's but I must admit that I wasn't so psyched for this new year. I don't know why I wasn't as excited for 2021 as I always am for every new year but I decided that I won't start this year on a bad note. At the beginning of every new year, I always set my goals for the new year by writing my goals down. I am not really a new year resolution or new year, new me person. I prefer creating goals for the new year than making new year resolutions. I feel like the words "new year resolution" are a little too hard but "new year goals" are more subtle, I am not the kind of person to force myself to stick to a new year resolution and so I love making new year goals and not new year resolutions.

GET A DOMAIN FOR MY BLOG

This is number 1) on the list because it is very important to me. I have been blogging for a little more than 1 month now and just before the year came to an end, I decided to get a domain for my blog. Getting a domain for my blog will take me one step further to achieving my blogging goals.. I know you might be wondering why I didn't decide to go self hosted instead. I will go self hosted a little later. I don't want to go self hosted yet because I want to spend a little time on blogger/blogspot and I also want to learn more about blogging, SEO and going self hosted before I actually go self hosted. Not that I can't learn the aforementioned things if I go self hosted first (some bloggers start off with self hosted websites) but I want to be on blogger for a little longer and take things kinda slow. What works for everyone might not work for me and so I want to take things gently and move to wordpress.org (a self hosted website) when I feel like I am prepared and ready to do so.

GIVE MORE TIME TO MY STUDIES

This is just as important as my first goal. I want to give more time to my studies this year. Nothing good comes easily and if I want to be known as a scholar, I have to devote more time to my studies and so I have decided to put more time and effort into my studies.

BLOG CONSISTENTLY

This is a big one for me because school can be extremely stressful and juggling blogging with school work and being a counsellor can be thrice as stressful. I want to be able to blog consistently regardless of the fact that I am a very busy person. I want to post at least once a week this year!

GET MY TWITTER FOLLOWERS TO 1000

I know this goal seems pretty realistic lol.. It's not an extremely high target and I know I might get to 1000 twitter followers even before mid-year but I am cool with that. Twitter is the major source of traffic and engagement for my blog. Tho, I intend to work on other social media platforms and make them a great source of traffic for my blog, I want to build my twitter first as I find that Twitter is a great platform for bloggers and by far my best social media platform for blogging related stuff.

BUILD MY CONFIDENCE AND SELF ESTEEM

I am pretty much a very confident person and my self esteem is great too but I guess there can never be a limit to building confidence and self esteem. I want to build my confidence and self esteem and become more confident than I am now.

MAKE MONEY FROM MY BLOG

I don't know about you but I feel like it is never too early to start making money from a blog and this year I wanna get my first paycheck. It is never too early to start making money from a blog, it's just growing your blog to a stage where you can make money from it requires a lot of hardwork and I am so ready to put that hardwork in! I am ready to go into anything from sponsored posts to link insertions and everything that suits me and my blog.

I WANT TO LEARN SEO

Oh my God! This is such a big deal for me lol. I feel like SEO is hard and that mindset has prevented me from even trying to learn anything about SEO but I have decided to learn SEO no matter what. This year, I won't let the popular phrase "SEO is hard" stop me from learning SEO. I think I might get an SEO eBook tho but we'll see.

I WANT TO STOP TAKING THINGS TOO SERIOUSLY

Things get to me a lot more than they should. I must admit that I take things way too seriously. If someone insults me or acts rudely and I don't react as much as I want to, I keep thinking about what that person did and it bothers me seriously. I want to make myself learn that some people only try to dim other's light to make themselves feel better. I want to make myself learn that not everything and everyone is worth my time and energy and I want to learn to stop taking things too seriously.

If you are like me and you set goals at the beginning of each year, tell me what your goals for this year are.. Also what are your thoughts on new year resolutions? Would it be a New year goal or new year resolution for you?

  6. Happy New Year!! Love the different goals you have listed. Buying a domain and getting self-hosted on Wordpress is a huge jump that's worth every effort. The sooner you do it, the better too - less to migrate over. But also important to see if blogging is right for you. Seem like you're doing great so far too! Wishing you the best in 2021!
